Turn any image into pixel art
What you need
Colours appear after you load an image
How it works
- Drop, paste or open an image. Photos from a phone work too.
- Pick a palette and a size: Minecraft blocks, Perler beads, wplace, PICO-8, Game Boy, NES, or an auto palette made from your image.
- Export a PNG, with or without grid lines, and build from the color list.
Building in Minecraft? The pixel art generator for Minecraft opens with the block palette.
Questions
- Is my image uploaded anywhere?
- No. The image is converted in your browser, on your computer. It is never sent to a server.
- Which files can I open?
- PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, GIF (first frame), BMP, SVG and iPhone photos in HEIC. Images up to 50 megapixels.
- What are the color counts for?
- They are your shopping list: how many beads, blocks or pixels of each color the picture needs. Click a color to see where it is used.
- Can I use it for Perler or Hama beads?
- Yes. Pick the Perler palette and the 29×29 size of a square pegboard; the counts tell you how many beads of each color to get.
- How do I get a sharp, large PNG?
- Choose a PNG size of 4×, 8× or 16×: every cell becomes a block of pixels with hard edges. Turn on grid lines to print a building chart.
